GBES Weekly Family Forecast (Dec. 6 - Dec. 10)

Dear Families,

It is amazing to be entering the first full week of December. Temperatures and the weather fluctuate from day to day. It is warm and sunny one moment, and cold and snowy the next. Welcome to Fall/Winter in Nova Scotia. This is why it is important for your children to come to school dressed in layers (boots, sweater, jackets, gloves, hats, etc…).

With first term behind us, our focus continues to be on reading, writing, math, and well-being! How can you help support your child at home? Reading to your child (ren) and/or encouraging them to read nightly at home are some examples of ways to support success at school. Evidence suggests that children who read for enjoyment every day not only perform better in reading tests than those who don’t, but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and greater success in other subjects.

·         Don’t forget to complete the online permission form for our school-wide pancake lunch on Monday, December 20th by clicking on the link

https://forms.gle/V2jvWcq1nifaud3z9. All sections need to be completed. If your child has any allergies or dietary concerns, please specify this on the form. The permission form should be completed by Friday, December 10.

Subway lunch takes place on Monday and Little Caesar’s on Wednesday.

The last five days before the holiday break we will celebrate Spirit Days at school (December 15-21). Spirit Days information will be shared next week.

***We will also be holding a food drive. Food donations will be accepted all week. All donations will be brought to the local food bank.
Have a great week,
